There is considerable interest in the design of new timber (and hybrid) structures using complex geometries, known as "free-from" construction. Advancements in engineering and computer technology have made timber the perfect material for such designs. This research aims to explore and examine the viability of the use of home-grown timber and develop efficient forms to enhance their performance characteristics for use in a variety or timber and hybrid structural systems.
