So far commercially available building insulating foams are derived from petroleum based polyurethane or phenolic rigid foams but environmentally friendly tannin based foams seem to be excellent candidates to replace the petroleum-based foams. Ms. Böhm, new PhD candidate in the group of Prof. Laborie, will explore the foaming kinetics and structure property relationships of these foams to be able to tailor the properties of the foams. Ms. Böhm, who will be supported for 3 years by the EU project BIOFOAMBARK, has a strong experience in physical and macromolecular chemistry, which she acquired at the University of Freiburg in the department of macromolecular chemistry during her diploma studies. She will be working in close collaboration with Danny GARCIA, also a new PhD student.
